Houston Open Tennis 2012

The 2012 Houston Open is one of twenty-two clay court ATP tennis tournaments and one of twelve men’s tournaments in the USA each year. Houston is an ATP Tour 250 category tournament.

The official name of Houston is the River Oaks US Men’s Clay Court Championships after the River Oaks International merged with the US Men’s Clay Court Championships in 2008.

The 2012 tournament is being held at the River Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas in the USA. The court surface is red Clay and the centre court seats 3,500 people. The River Oaks tournament was first held in 1931.

This tournament runs from Saturday 7 April to Sunday 15 April. The men’s singles qualifying event is being held on Saturday and Sunday April 7 and 8. The main draw singles event runs from Monday 9 April through to the Men’s Singles Final day on Sunday 15 April. 

The 2011 men’s singles champion was wild card entrant Ryan SWEETING who defeated No.6 seed Kei NISHIKORI in the final 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) to win his first ATP Tour singles title in his first ATP singles final.
