Qatar Open Tennis 2012

The 2012 Qatar Open is one of only two ATP tennis tournaments in the Middle East. The Qatar ExxonMobil Open is the tournament that offers the most prize money of the three ATP 250 events that kick-off the 2012 season in the first week on January. The Qatar Open therefore, has the added lure for the top players to choose Qatar each year.

The Qatar Open is being held at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex in Doha on Plexicushion hard courtsThe centre court holds 6,911 spectators, the total financial commitment for 2012 is $1,110,250 and this tournament was first held in 1993.

This tournament is a men’s tournament classified an ATP World Tour 250 event. Qatar runs from Saturday 31 December through to the Men’s Singles Finals day on Friday 7 January. The 2011 men’s singles champion was Roger FEDERER who defeated defending champion Nikolay Davydenko in the final 6-3, 6-4.
