The 2010 Roland Garros women’s singles final was one of the most inspiring matches for some time. The underdog emerged victorious in a brilliant execution of her strategy, positive energy and mental toughness. No.17 seed Francesca Schiavone defeated No.7 seed Samantha Stosur 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) in 1 hour and 38 minutes to become the 37th woman to win a Grand Slam Singles title in the Open era of tennis.
26 year old Australian Samantha Stosur is pictured above on the run and unable to set up into a solid position to execute her with any real power for this backhand. Being in this situation occurred quite frequently in yesterday’s final.
