Roland Garros 2012 Women’s Qualifying Singles Draw: 1st Round

The 2012 Roland Garros women’s qualifying singles draw 1st round matches begin on Wednesday 23 May at 11am local time in Paris, France. Roland Garros 2012 is the 7th MAJOR tournament of the “BIG 14″ tournaments each year and has 208 players vying for the title, a maximum of 2,000 WTA ranking points and € 1,250,000 (Euros) in prize money for the winner. In this post some interesting facts about the women’s qualifying and the full list of the qualifying draw will be provided.

Roland Garros has a 96-player qualifying singles draw divided up between 8 Wild Cards [WC] and 88 Direct Acceptances vying for the 12 spots allocated to qualifiers in the singles main draw. The Top 24 ranked players amongst the 88 Direct Acceptances according to the WTAP rankings on 21 May 2012 become the 24 seeds. The 24 seeds were ranked from world No.89 (Kiki BERTENS) through to No.138 (Irnya BREMOND).
