Pictured above is 30 year old Venus Williams of America captured playing this double handed backhand drive at the 2009 US Open. The 1.85m Venus is a former World No.1 and dual US Open champion the current World No.4 is a great form thus far which she hopes will continue. Venus plays No.16 seed Shahar Peer next whom she holds a 5-0 record over, including 3 wins against Peer this year. Venus has lost an average of 4 games per match against Peer and won all 10 sets that they have played.
Venus will be looking to set up a possible rematch with Kim Clijsters in the semi finals. Clijsters defeated Venus 6-4 in the final set in the 2009 US Open and also has 2 US Open singles titles. Clijsters and Venus are tied at 6 wins each in their head to head battles. Venus is in contention for her 8th Grand Slam singles title and her 3rd US Open title, which would make her equal with Serena’s collection of 3 US Open titles.
