The 2010 Wimbledon men’s main draw singles 1st round matches STILL has one match to complete. The 2nd round matches are to be played over two days, beginning on Wednesday 23 June. This post will be updated as the results of all the 2nd round matches are decided. For an update on the results scroll down below the 2nd round draw below.

The matches numbered from No.1 to 16 in the draw below are scheduled to be played on Wednesday, whilst the bottom half of the draw i.e matches 17 to 32 will be played on Thursday 24 June. This year however, the usual schedule has been altered as Thiemo De Bakker does NOT get to play his 2nd round match today. This is because he is still awaiting the result of the final 1st round match to determine his next opponent.

De Bakker plays the winner of No.23 John Isner and (Q) Nicolas Mahut on Friday 25 June whilst all of the other matches will be 3rd round matches. The Isner-Mahut match has broken all sorts of all time tennis records including the longest ever match. The match will continue for the 3rd day in a row, at 3:30pm London time from 59 games all in the 5th and deciding set.

In Grand Slam singles tournaments the two halves of the draw are played on alternate days for the majority of the tournament. Each of the Grand Slam events uses their own schedule of when both halves of the draw start playing on the same day. At Wimbledon this commences earlier than the other Grand Slams as the round of 16 onwards is played on the same day.

The player’s name that is bolded is OCA’s prediction of who will win each match. Any player who has a line drawn through their name is a seeded player who was expected to win through to the 2nd round. In the top half of the draw OCA correctly predicted 11 winners out of the 16 matches including the unseeded Daniel Brands upset win against No.7 seed Nikolay Davydenko.
