The winners of the 3 1st round matches already played were: Andreev, Seppi and Berrer. Pictured above is No.7 seed Mikhail Youzhny watching the ball in preparation to serve. The 27 year old Youzhny is the current World No.13 with 2,380 ATP ranking points. The 1.83m Russian has a great chance to return to the Top 10 if he can continue his run of form, because he has very few points to defend for the next few months.

Last year Youzhny lost in the 2nd round of qualifying at Monte-Carlo (earning 14 points), whereas this year he is the No.7 seed. He will have a tough first match against either former World No.3 Nalbandian or a quarter finalist at the 2009 Monte-Carlo event, Andreas Beck. If he can live up to his seeding here and at the Rome Open he will equal his career best ranking of No.8 in the next few weeks. The No.2 ranked Russian has plenty to play for and it will be very interesting to see how he performs during the clay court season.
