In the first semi final 29 year old Roger Federer of Switzerland goes into his match against 24 year old Gael Monfils with a perfect 5-0 record in their previous head-to-head matches. The most recent meeting between these two was also in Paris yet it was at Roland Garros on clay courts at the quarter final stage.

Pictured above is 2003 US Open Men’s Singles champion Michael Llodra just as he is making contact between the ball and his racquet for this forehand drive during the 2010 US Open. The 1.9m Llodra had never been past the singles second round at the Paris Open until this year.

The 30 year old left-hander from France had only made the round of 16 once before in a Masters 1000 tournament at the Canadian Open this year. He will achieve a new career high singles ranking when the updated rankings are released on Monday after achieving the No.28 rank on September 20 just two months ago.

The player’s name that is bolded in the semi finals singles draw below is OCA’s prediction of who will win each match. Any player whose name is italicised and has his first name removed is a seeded player who was expected to win through to the semi finals.

The 2010 Paris Open men’s singles draw for the semi finals is:

  1. (1) Roger Federer versus (12) Gael Monfils (3) Murray
  2. (4) Robin Soderling v. Michael Llodra (2) Djokovic
