Miami 2010 Women’s 2nd Round

The Miami Open women’s main draw singles matches began on Wednesday 24 March local time in Miami, Florida in the USA. All of the 1st round matches have now been completed. The draw for the 2nd round is as follows and the player’s name that is bolded is OCA’s prediction of who will win each match.

All of the Top 32 ranked players that are seeded will be in actin for their 1st round matches in the 2nd round after receiving a BYE. After the last weeks Indian Wells Open a number of the top players will be fired up to perform after the large number of upsets that they suffered. Still expect a number of the players seeded from 17 to 32 to be upset!

The matches that you should try to see in this round, which could be the most fiercely competitive are Dementieva v. Henin, Hantuchova v. Schnyder, Stosur v. Suarez Navarro, Zvonareva v. Oudin, Schiavone v. Cornet and Kuznetsova v. Peng.

Pictured above is No.27 seed Agnes Szavay of Hungary beautifully poised to go after the ball in her service action. The 21 year old made the round of 16 in Miami last year. Szavay really needs to record some quarter final results in these Premier Mandatory tournaments and Premier FIVE category events on the WTA Tour this year to move up towards a Top 10 ranking.
