Miami 2010 Women’s 3rd Round

The Miami Open women’s 2nd round main draw singles matches began on Friday 26 March local time in Miami, Florida in the USA. All of the 2nd round matches have now been completed. Most of the top seeds were on their game in the 2nd round with No.5 seed Elena Dementieva, No.8 Li Na and No.10 Flavia Pennetta being the upset from the Top 16 seeds. Whereas half of the seeds between No.17 to No.32 were defeated.

Two wild cards remain in Petra Martic and Justine Henin whilst all of the qualifiers were defeated in the 2nd round. The matches that you should try to see in this round, which could be the most fiercely competitive are Hantuchova v. Petrova, Ivanovic v. Radwanksa, Schiavone v. Pavlyuchenkova and Kirilenko v. Wozniacki.

The No.1 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova who is pictured above preparing to go after her serve will be looking to post some impressive results in the coming rounds after being defeated in her first match at the Indian Wells Open. The 24 year old Russian has won 2 Grand Slam singles titles thus far including Roland Garros in 2009 and would love to add another this year and outshine all of the other Russian women on the WTA Tour.
