The 2012 Qatar Open women’s main draw singles semi final matches will begin on Saturday 18 February at 6pm local time in Doha, Qatar. The second MAJOR tournament of the “BIG 14″ events in 2012 has 4 players left vying for this prestigious title, 900 WTA ranking points and $385,000 in prize money. The official tournament name is the Qatar TOTAL Open due to title sponsorship naming rights.
Four of the Top 5 seeds won through to the semi final stage with only No.2 seed Caroline Wozniacki not living up to her seeding.

Agnieszka RADWANSKA by winning through to the semi finals has equalled her best result in Doha where she was also a semi finalist in 2008. The 22-year-old is captured above displaying great posture and form as she is in position and commencing the forward swing phase of the racquet for this single-handed backhand slice. The 1.72m Radwanska from Poland is playing World No.1 Victoria Azarenka for the third time this year already. Radwanska has 3 wins against Azarenka but fell to her in after winning the first set at the 2012 Australian Open.
Radwanska has won 7 career WTA singles so far and achieved her best result in a Grand Slam singles event by making the quarter finals at the Australian Open in 2008, 2001 and 2012 plus at Wimbledon in 2008 and 2009. Radwanska achieved her career-best ranking of No.6 on 30 January 2012. The soon to be 23-year-old, her birthday is March 6 lost in the first round here last year. A first round loss gives you 1 WTA ranking point, whereas being a semi finalist earns you 395 points so Radwanska has increased her WTA ranking points by 394 points thus far this week.
