The two backhand drives in this video clip for you to observe and learn from are:
- a single handed backhand cross court;
- followed by a single handed backhand down the line.
The two backhand strokes captured in this video both felt effortless and came right out of the sweet spot are a great example for you to follow.
Jay Davern having fun on the tennis court as always…here a tribute to the 2016 US Open men’s singles champion Stanislas Wawrinka who defeated Novak Djokovic 6-7 (1-7), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 in 3 hours and 54 minutes.
Wawrinka executes an effective pattern of play where he plays the first single-handed backhand ground stroke cross-court with angle to pull his opponent out to the right of their singles sideline and better still beyond their doubles sideline.
Wawrinka immediately follows his first stroke with another backhand, this time changing the direction of the ball to hit it down-the-line. To increase the difficulty for his opponent, Wawrinka moves inside the baseline on his side of the net and takes the ball earlier and on the rise, plus Stan The Man deliberately flattens out the the second stroke to make it difficult for his opponent to reach.
This is the exact pattern he used to win Championship point at Roland Garros 2015!
